Hey, I’m Dave Haas and moved to Romania in 2018 from America. I came to pursue a few opportunities working for a non-profit company and teaching English. I studied film studies and communication at university and have many years teaching.
I was born in south Florida, where my family still lives. I went to university in central Florida and Los Angeles until I was offered a job in Atlanta working in media for The Salvation Army. After 7 years there leading a team of photographers, video producers and graphic designers I met some colleagues in Romania who offered me a job to help them out here. So I agreed and made the move to Bucharest. I also studied for my teaching certification in 2016 and since arriving to Romania have been teaching.
I get asked all the time “why Romania?” I fell in love with the people I met and the encounters, and sarmale. The culture is beautiful and breathtaking landscapes and cities. I had always wanted to live in Europe and Romania ended up being the best choice.
I look forward to another year teaching English at Big Ben!
